Name of wine: Chateau Ste. Michelle 2010 Indian Wells Cabernet Sauvignon (Cabernet Sauvignon, Blend: 89% Cab Sauvignon/6% Syrah/3% Malbec/2% Cab Franc, Columbia Valley AVA, 112,000 cases made)
Price paid: $14
Where purchased: KL Wines, San Francisco, California
Tasting Notes and my Comments: Looks and smells like a classic Washington state cabernet. I really like this one. At this price, buy at least a case, you won’t be sorry. All of this Washington cab goodness for under $20? Yes! Some grapes from Indian Wells, one of the hottest vineyards along the Wahluke slope.
Color: Black currant hue.
Nose: Black cherries, straw, pencil lead, and spice.
Palate: Medium tannins. Noticeable mouth feel. Bold fruit with enough acidity to drink some now or cellar for later.
Food: This cab works well with NY strip steak or even better, grass-fed gourmet cheeseburgers with onion rings. A recommended pairing! I could easily drink this one on its own as well.
